Nissan Altima Remains A Standout Sedan for 2019

Redesigned for 2019, the Nissan Altima is Nissan’s first sedan in the United States to offer Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. There are five trim levels: S, SR, SV, SL and Platinum. Each comes equipped with the standard 2.5-liter engine and are available with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

Under the Hood
The 2019 Altima offers a choice between a pair of advanced powertrains. There’s the 2.0-liter VC-Turbo churning out 248 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, or the standard 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder direct injection engine, which produces 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque.

An upgraded dual-pinion electric power steering system is quieter and more intuitive. The system reduces steering effort at low speeds, while increasing it at higher speeds for more feedback and control.

"The goal in the chassis development is to provide a more comfortable, controlled and confident driving experience – not just for the higher grades but for every 2019 Altima," said Denis Le Vot, senior vice president, chairman of management committee, Nissan North America. "Between the engine improvements, isolation of noise and vibrations, tighter suspension and increased seat support, Altima absolutely feels like a class above."

Comfort and Convenience
New low-profile engine designs and new platform packaging creates an Altima that’s lower, wider and more dynamic than the previous generation. The 2019 Altima is 1.1 inches shorter 1 inch longer and 0.9 inches wider than its predecessor.

Nine exterior colors are available and the 2019 Altima provides plenty of opportunities for connectivity.

"The all-new Altima features the next generation of Nissan connectivity, combining seamless connectivity between home, work and the vehicle, an intuitive interface and over-the-air updates with automatic update notifications," said Le Vot. "And, of course, both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard – which not every sedan in the segment even makes available."

An 8-inch multicolor touchscreen is standard in every 2019 Nissan Altima.

Safety
Standard on SV, SL and Platinum grades is Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist, a semi-autonomous driving technology.
The 2019 Altima offers a wealth of available safety and convenience features. Automatic Emergency Braking and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning comes standard, while the radar-based Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Intelligent Cruise Control are available as options.

Automatic Emergency Braking offers visual display and audio warnings that alert the driver of a potential frontal collision and reduce speed if necessary. The technology can apply the brakes when a collision is unavoidable, helping reduce the speed of the impact and severity of the impact.

Intelligent Forward Collision Warning alerts the driver to risks that lie ahead. This system senses the relative velocity and distance of the vehicle directly ahead, as well as the vehicle traveling in front of the preceding one to help alert the driver of a potential forward collision.
