Tech Enhancements, Safety Updates Highlight ‘18 Murano

Futuristic, dashing, and safety-conscious, the 2018 Murano showcases Nissan’s ambition. The crossover’s boomerang-shaped headlights and floating roof command attention, while supple leather and metallic accents highlight an enticing interior.

Of course, Nissan’s suite of advanced safety features comes along for the ride, too.

Under the Hood

All 2018 Muranos include a 3.5-liter DOHC V-6 engine that cranks out 260 horsepower at 240 pound-feet of torque. Nissan’s advanced Xtronic transmission provides a graceful transition between gears in every Murano.

Pairing an efficient V-6 engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission strikes a harmonious balance between power and fuel economy.

The Murano’s four-wheel independent suspension system provides responsive handling through its front strut/rear multi-link design. Both front-wheel and all-wheel drive platforms are available for the 2018 Murano.

Comfort and Convenience

Nissan’s designers continued the “social lounge” interior in the 2018 Murano. The idea is a comfortable, casual layout that facilitates conversation between the driver and passengers. Mood lighting and Zero Gravity front seats contribute to this theme.

Another tweak to this year’s adaptation places the height of the instrument panel lower than last year’s model.

The standard NissanConnect with Navigation system uses an 8-inch color screen with multitouch control that pairs with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Murano’s advanced Drive-Assist Display revolves around a 7-inch high-resolution color display.

Additional options and upgrades include an 11-speaker Bose system with subwoofers, HD Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Safety

Nissan remains committed to producing some of the safest vehicles on the road. Automatic emergency braking and intelligent forward collision warning come standard on all 2018 Muranos. Intelligent cruise control, which can maintain a consistent distance between the Murano and the vehicle in front of it, is available on the SL and SV premium grade.

Blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert also pair with the Murano SV. These safety features are the result of the Murano’s four cameras and three radar sensors.

Every Murano includes Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System with supplemental front air bags and seat belt sensors, as well as roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags with a rollover sensor. A knee air bag for the driver provides an extra layer of protection.
