2017 Maxima Connects With Apple CarPlay

Nissan’s 2017 Maxima could be considered a sports car masquerading as a family sedan.

It sporty side delivers an enticing blend of performance and high-tech features. It's family side delivers interior comfort amenities and safety advancements.

Under the Hood

A 300-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers 261 pound-feet of torque is at the center of the 2017 Nissan Maxima. The engine is teamed with a performance-driven Xtronic automatic transmission with Sport and Normal shift modes that give drivers a zippier feel when motoring around town and let them really open it up on the highway.

Comfort and Convenience

Nissan designers built the 2017 Maxima with a host of tech features, many included as standard equipment.

For 2017 Nissan includes Apple CarPlay for seamless connection with iPhone 5 or later models. Drivers simply connect their phones to the power cord and the display switches to a vehicle-centric interface that can be controlled through the Maxima’s knobs and switches to select audio books, music, podcasts and maps apps. Siri voice controls allow for easy hands- and eyes-free control of the device.

The vehicle’s onboard 8-inch color touchscreen display with multi-touch control is perfect for easily navigating the various features in Apple CarPlay as well as the standard vehicle interfaces such as radio and Nissan Voice Recognition, as well as the navigation system. Swiping the navigation screen from the center display brings it to the 7-inch screen in the instrument cluster for ease of use that allows drivers to keep maximum attention focused on the road.

An available 11-speaker Bose audio system with Bose Center Point Surround Stage technology gives theater-quality performance and enriches the audio experience in the vehicle.

Zero Gravity front seats are comfortable and allow for plenty of adjustability, with the driver’s seat being eight-way power-adjustable, and available climate control front seats and steering wheel add a touch of luxury. The rear seat is split 60/40 to allow for a variety of cargo carrying and passenger seating configurations.

Safety

Nissan’s offers advanced technology such as predictive forward collision warning, intelligent cruise control, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot warning.

In the event of a collision, occupants are protected by dual front impact airbags, front seat-mounted side impact airbags and roof-mounted side curtain airbags as well as three-point seat belts at all seating locations. Front seat belts feature dual pretensioners, and the LATCH system ensures that child seats can be safely secured.
